Kyeikhteeyoe is a popular pilgrimage and tourist attraction. It was proposed as a wildlife sanctuary in 1998 and gazette in 2001 in order to conserve the fauna and flora of the surrounding of Kyeikhtiyoe Pagoda which is a National monument. The wildlife sanctuary was established to protect globally threatened species. And, it is the only opportunity to see White-headed Bulbul ( Hypsipetes thompsoni ).
