Putao is in northern Kachin State at the very north of Myanmar. It is renowned for its stunning, unspoiled scenery, wonderful trekking opportunities and for the culture of the local people.

Tour Itinerary

Day 01: ( Around Putao )

Arrive in Putao. Transfer to Kyauk Lone Si guest house by jeep. Lunch at Kansuko restaurant. After lunch, visit by jeep to Ma Kyawt Wall Lisu village, Myoma Rawam village, Hoko Shan village, Pan Hlaing kamti Shan village, to see the hill tribe peoples´ culture, customs, lifestyles, and daily life. After touring the villages, continue to the museum of the Kakaborazi National Park which is located at Putao. Mt.Kakaborazi is the only summit covered in snow nearly year-round and the highest mountain in South East Asia ( 5881 m ). At the museum, you can study the education programs of nature conservation at Kakaborazi national park. Also, the models of mammals, birds, butterflies, beetles, and orchids of the region are at the museum. After that, drive back to the guesthouse, dinner at a local restaurant and overnight stay in Putao.

Day 02: ( Visit Putao, Mudone village, Khaung Hmu Lone pagoda )

After breakfast walk to the Hoko quarter. ( 30 minutes walk ). Then head to Panhlaing Quarter which is connected by an iron bridge over the Nant Htun creek. After that visit to Mahamuni Buddha image at Panhlaing quarter. The image is the biggest image that is cased With a bronze in Putao. At the compound of the monastery which is near the Buddha image, there is an opportunity to view some unique birds. After passing the state middle school of the village, you will reach the rice field, the bamboo forest and the ancient pagoda of the Putaung.

As Nant Taung creek is flowing along the rice field, you can see some water birds around the ways during January, February, and March. You can also see the snow-capped mountain in the distance while walking. After that, you will arrive at Pu Taung village, where the Shan and Lisu hill tribes live. According to the old history of Putao, Pu Taung is the first built village in the Putao region. Then, the name evolved from Pu Taung to Putao. At present, there are about 50 houses in the village.

One and a half hour’s walk from Pu Taung Village is Mu Done Village. You have to cross the rice field and can see most of the water birds along the way. Madone Village is famous for its horticulture works. Vegetables, fruits, and paddy growing are the village’s main products. You can visit the village monastery where the Shan ancient Buddha image is located. After visiting Mudone village, we proceed to Pan Ma Tee village. After arriving at the Naung Plas Suspension bridge, we change to boats or bamboo rafts to flow down to the confluence of the Malika River (1.5 hours). Along the boat trip, you can enjoy bird watching, plantations along the riverbank, the flora and fauna along the river and unforgettable scenery. From the confluence of the Malika River to Kaung Hmu Lone pagoda is another 30 minutes to flow down. Lunch at Kaung Hmu Lone pagoda complex. Kaung Hmu Lone Pagoda is the most famous pagoda in the north of Myanmar. Back to Putao by jeep. Overnight stay in Putao.

Day 03: ( Nant Khan village )

Morning walk to Sa Lum Dum village, Ta Rum Dum village, and lunch at Kan Jo Shan village. After lunch, trek to Nant Khan village ( 4 hrs trek ), arriving in the early evening. The villagers are the Rawam hill, tribe people. The village is famous for its fruit plantations. King fruit, great fruit, Washington fruits, and American lime fruits are the local products of the village. Vegetables also grow well in this village.

Trekking to Nant Khan village is light: largely flat land along the Malika river. Overnight at the village.

Day 04: ( Ma Chan Baw )

After B/F at the village, trek to In Wine Bot village, passing rice fields and hill jungle for one hour. Then continue trekking to In Bu Bot village for another hour. These two villages are home to the Kachin Jainphaw hill tribe people. Lunch at the village with lunch boxes. After visiting the villages and experiencing the local people’s lifestyles, again trek to Ma Chan Baw village for an hour. Check in to Guba guest house, free at leisure in the village. Dinner at the guest house and overnight at Guba guest house.

Day 05: ( Putao – Yangon )

Breakfast at the guesthouse, then walk to Ma Chan Baw suspension bridge. Look around the bridge, which offers great photo opportunities, and cross the bridge. After that, drive to Putao for an hour, then transfer to Putao airport. Fly back to Yangon. Transfer to the hotel. End of Services
