Indawgyi Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary is best known for its water birds and migratory birds. It is located at Moe Nyin township, Kachin state, 772 miles north of Yangon. It is 315 sq miles and was established in 2004. To get there, fly from Yangon to Mandalay, ( 1 hr ) then to Moe Nyin or Ho Pin by train, ( 18 hrs ) then to Lone Tone village by public bus or hired car ( 3 to 4 hrs ). Lone tone village is located on the bank of Indawgyi lake.
The lake basin is slightly asymmetrical with greater depth and steeper sides to the east. The depths along the axis of the lake have varied between 15.88m and 22.19m. There are many inflows into the lake. The major inflows are from Nanyinkha chaung in the southwest part and Nansandar chaung in the northwest. This is located at south of Nyanbin village. The Nan Mu chaung also flows in from the southwest. The others such as Nantaungsal, Nanmelong, Nanmale, Khagyi and Nantame chaung all flow into the lake. At the northeast parts of Indawgyi lake, Indawgyi chaung flows out to Moe Gaung township.

Day 1: Fly to Mandalay, in the afternoon, depart from Mandalay to Moe Nyin or Ho Pin by train. ( 18 hrs on the train ). Overnight on train. The next day, drive to Lone Tone village by hired a car or with the public bus. (or ) fly to Myint Kyi Na, then drive to Lone Tone ( 6 hrs drive. )
Day 2 – Day 5: Activities at Indawgyi wetland such as conservation, education, research and birding in the wetland.
Day 6: Drive back to Moe Nyin or Ho Pin o Myint Kyi Na. Wait for the train at Moe Nyin or Ho Pin or an overnight stay at Myint Kyi Na.
Day 7: Fly back to Mandalay from Myint Kyi Na in the morning and fly back to Yangon from Mandalay in the evening. End of services.
