Meinmahla Kyun Wildlife Sanctuary

One of Myanmar’s ASEAN heritage sites, RAMSAR Site and Flyway Site Network in Myanmar. It is located at Bokalay TownshipAyeyarwaddy Division, most south part of Ayeyarwaddy delta area. It is located at very near open sea. It is surrounded the Bokalay river in the east and Kandonkani river in the west.

There are a lot of small stream in the Sanctuary, soil type is tidal mud and silt. Myauk Taya pagoda is only one famous pagoda for the region and which is located in the Sanctuary.

Itineraries

Day 1

Yangon-Bogalay

(Friday) Afternoon, meeting point at Pansodam Jetty, then taking the ferry boat to Dalla city about 20 minutes. Then taking the Line bus from Dalla to Bogalay about 4 hours driving. Arrive to Bogalay . Check in to Guest house. Dinner at Local restaurant. Overnight in Bogalay.

Day 2

around Meinmahlakyun

( Saturday) Morning breakfast at local tea shop and then visit to Bogalay market. Then , taking the line bus . Leaving at 08:00 am from Bogalay to Kadonekani fishing village. Visit around the village and study the life style of villagers and mangrove forest. Then taking the boat to Kadonega lay Island, stopping at MKWS southern mudflats, night-spotting of crocodiles. Nga Mann Island and Gayetgyi Island. Lunch on the boat. Arrive on Gadongalay around 3pm. Check in to Guest house. Dinner at local shop . Overnight at Research Station/Guesthouse.

Day 3

Bogalay-Yangon

( Sunday) Breakfast at local tea shop. leaving from Gadonegalay at 07:00 taking the boat to Myauktaya pagoda, on the way bird watching on the boat around the Wildlife Sanctuary area. Heading the boat along the Creek and seeing the mangrove forest. Lunch on the boat. Arrive to Bogalay round about 02:00 pm. Then walking to Bus station. Then taking the bus from Bogalay to Dalla city. Then taking the ferry to Yangon.
